7: Two months after the hike in inflation allowance (DA) and inflation relief (DR) for central government employees, there is still more good news for them. According to a report by India.com, the central government had announced that government employees could expect one more increase in their salaries. It was also mentioned that government employees who could not claim their Child Education Allowance (CEA) due to the ongoing Covid-19 epidemic can now do so.
To put it in this context, central government employees were getting CEAs for their children’s education. The amount of this fund is Rs. 2,250 per month. However, in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic, all schools and colleges across the country closed, eliminating the CEA option and making it impossible for employees to collect it. Given the recent developments and how schools are reopening, central government employees can now collect those CEAs.
In the context of this development, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an Office Memorandum that addressed the issue. The entity expressed how central government employees are struggling to sue the CEA as a result of the epidemic. It also mentions how the results and report card are being affected but the whole situation.
It was then decided to apply some concessions. In the notification, DoPT said CEA claims can be reduced by self-declarations or report card, fee payment or SMS / e-mail printout of the result. It states that the facility, when available, will only apply to the academic year ending March 2020 and March 2021.
In the office memorandum, the DOPT said, "The department has received many references / queries from Central Government employees stating that in the current epidemic situation, result / report cards were not sent to parents by the school via SMS / email, and also fees. Submissions are being made online, and parents are having difficulty claiming a CEA.
"The matter has been approved and it has been decided that OM no. A 27012/02 / 2017- 17th July, 2018 Est. By self-certification made from the concerned staff or by printout of result / report card / fee payment e-mail / SMS only, in addition to prescribed claims for academic years ending March, 2020 and March, 2021, ”DOPT said.
As per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, Central Government employees get Rs 2,250 per month. However, he is now eligible to receive Rs 4,500 per month after claiming CEA for two children, India.com reports. It should be noted that if the second child is a twin, the same allowance is given for the education of both the children. It has to pay Rs 4,500 per child and can now be claimed as it has not been collected for March 2020 and March 2021. It will add Rs 4,500 to the salaries of central government employees mentioned in the report.
